'Sesame Street' welcomes new character who lives with foster parents

“Sesame Boulevard” is welcoming a brand new good friend to the community — this time, a personality who lives with foster oldsters.

The debut of Karli, a tender, inexperienced Muppet who lives together with her “for-now” foster oldsters, is a part of Sesame Workshop’s “Sesame Boulevard in Communities” program, which provides loose, bilingual assets “for group suppliers and caregivers on a variety of subjects, together with difficult problems like circle of relatives homelessness and aggravating reviews.”

The initiative, which Sesame Workshop introduced in a press unencumber on Monday, is designed to “be offering fortify to kids, foster oldsters, and suppliers who serve foster households.”

And with Karli — and her foster oldsters, Dalia and Clem — “Sesame Boulevard” lovers give you the option to revel in simply that.


The pig-tailed muppet was once presented in a video ultimate month titled, “You Belong.” In it, Elmo meets Karli, Dalia and Clem at their house for a pizza birthday party.

At one level, as Karli is getting Elmo settled for dinner and presentations him everybody’s placemats, she realizes hers is lacking. She tells her oldsters, “I should not have a spot.”

Clem tells Elmo that Karli is “having a difficult time,” however notes that “we are right here for her. We are her for-now oldsters.”

When Elmo asks what this implies, Dalia tells him: “Every now and then even mommies and daddies want some lend a hand taking good care of their kids. Karli’s mommy has been having a difficult time, so we’re her foster oldsters, or her for-now oldsters. We will be able to stay her secure till her mommy can handle her once more.”


Karli’s foster oldsters later reassure her, making a song: “There’s a position for you right here. You belong.”

In December, “Sesame Boulevard” re-welcomed every other persona, 7-year-old Lily, to discuss homelessness.
