MIAMI (AP) — Rookie right-hander Chris Paddack of the San Diego Padres misplaced his no-hit bid when the Miami Marlins’ Starlin Castro led off the 8th inning with a house run.
The Padres, who performed their first sport in 1969, are the one staff within the majors to by no means throw a no-hitter.
Paddack opened the 8th having thrown 82 pitches. Castro coated the second one pitch of his at-bat over the wall in left.
Cesar Puello was once the primary Marlins hitter to achieve first base on a throwing error via shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. to steer off the 6th inning. Yadiel Rivera walked with two outs within the inning. Paddack ended the 6th via tagging a diving Miguel Rojas on a detailed play in the beginning base. The out name was once upheld via a replay evaluation of two mins, 29 seconds.
Paddack had struck out seven and walked one coming into the 8th. The Padres led Three-1 following the homer.
Paddack is pitching for the primary time towards the Marlins, who drafted him in 2015 and traded him to San Diego the next yr.
