Elvis Presley awarded Presidential Medal of Freedom

Rock and roll icon Elvis Presley has been posthumously honoured with the Presidential Medal Of Freedom.

The award is america’ best civilian honour and recognises the “meritorious contributions to the protection or nationwide pursuits of the USA, to global peace, or to cultural or different important public or personal endeavours”.

Presley is joined via baseball nice Babe Ruth and Ideal Court docket justice Antonin Scalia in receiving the award posthumously.

The others being honoured are the long-time Republican senator Orrin Hatch, the philanthropist and political donor Miriam Adelson and retired NFL stars Alan Web page and Roger Staubach.
